Simple Christmas

I saw these photos last year around this time and I thought it was about time I shared them with you! What a fun little flat right? It just goes to show what you can do with a few items to make Christmas in your home!

Christmas For My Cards

Beau Ideal

I think I am going to do this with all my Christmas cards! Although I'm not too sure I want to put that many holes in my walls. I'll come up with a way to get around it.

The Szachury Christmas

This Christmas was big for us this year. It was the first time having Christmas in our new house and Crystal and Paul were out this year which hasn't ever happened. I tried to make it every special with all the decorations, baking and food. But of course it's the memories that really do it and I think everyone had a great time. It was truly a wonderful Christmas.

She was very excited! We each got her a vintage camera for her collection
I love these boots! It doesn't even feel like I'm wearing heels which is perfect to me!

The vintage wrapping paper that my sister wrapped my gifts in
Of course an ornament. My mom gets the best ones for me every year
I baked some Snickerdoodle cookies for Paul.
Of course Ollie gets a gift (from Nana, aka my mom). It was a rubber net ball with a bell on the inside. He loves it.
This is what Ollie does when everyone is sitting at the table- lays under someones chair.

Marshall playing Santa
Taking a break in the day for some snacks

He really wanted that ham but the training is really paying off; he didn't even go for it. He sat down right away and waited. He got a little bit as his reward.
Getting ready for the feast
Crystal making the sauce for the war cake she brought a long
Have a little fun with Crystal's camera

And then we lite it on fire.
It was an intense cake, but good!
This is Ollie at the end of the night. He's not one for sleeping or staying for that matter, in someone's lap so this was a big deal. He was really tiered.
Mom's big gift from Crystal. We had to pause and make sure there as enough room on the camera memory card for this moment.

Crystal was getting a new computer so she gave her old one to our mom
The boys, having a little fun jamming in the living room. A great sight and sound to be enjoyed.

Christmas with Ashley, Justin & Doug (& Marshall & Ollie)

I guess you would sort of consider this the Dyck Christmas, but usually I would think that would be the big gathering we have every Christmas with all of the family. I love it by the way! I know I married into the family but I feel more at home at those gatherings then I do at my own. Likely because my mom's side has gatherings maybe ones every 2 years and my dad's side isn't like it used to be and is only ones a year as well.

Anyways, this is the Dyck side! I don't have any photos of our time at Shirl's (mother-in-law) so unfortunately I can't include any of those.

It was a really good day. We had the Christmas on the 24th and did the usual: made a big turkey dinner, open presents, had lots of appetizers, deserts, watched a couple of movies and played a board game (Mad Gab to be exact). It's nice to have something to look forward to like that every year. It's not all these huge detailed traditions but I like that. Just relaxing with family is really nice.
Ashley waiting patiently to open gifts.
The pretty (and soft) blanket we got
The painting I did for Justin. For not remember his wall colours I think I did a pretty good job matching.
The painting I did for Doug

The spread of food! It was great!
The men- where they should be; in the kitchen (helping the women ;)
The sweater Ashley got Doug
That knife was a lot bigger then it looks in this picture. Something else not as intense would have worked but we were at Justin's (i.e. a bachelor) house so a big knife is what you use after all!
